Prison Break in Time for Mother's Day

What do you do when you are going out for Mother's Day dinner but you are very tired?  You put on your best nightgown and your favourite red shoes, of course!

Then you practise some poses.

It's attitude dude; read between the lines!

Wrap up in a shawl with a colour you look terrible in and don't give a fack!

Then  gather up the card you made for your mum,

Grab your camera and handbag and head out the door.

My Son and Me at Dinner.

My lovely Mum across the table from me.

  1. Shawna, you look absolutely fantastic! Sorry to hear you're not feeling well. But your outfit is great, and I love the styling- the shoes, the scarf and you of course! I think this color looks very good on you. Maybe it's light. It's tricky. :)

Your Mum is such a lovely beautiful lady! What a gift - your own little painting! And you are a mother of such a grown man, it's really hard to believe. Your son is very handsome. You are just a lovely family. Happy Mother's Day, dear!

    1. Thank you Natalia! I think I can pull off the gold coloured shawl because I am also wearing navy blue near my face. I love that shawl and refuse to abandon it. I think my mum is really beautiful and gets more so all the time. And of course my son is the apple of my eye! I hope you had a lovely Mother's Day too!

  2. I think my comment was swallowed by Google +. So just in case, that is a gorgeous nightgown! I love the waist detail. A double Mother's Day is always good, but sad that you were tired. Hope you managed to enjoy it anyway. Lovely card! Jazz

    1. Google sometimes does that. Thank you for admiring my nightgown. LOL I did have a lovely time, as I didn't have to do much other than eat and enjoy the company of my favourite people.

  3. Wohoo, the son is a hottie! :D And your mom is so lovely! ^_^
I adore your poses Shawna, they're so sassy! And I think the shawl looks magnificent on you, I love the color and length, at first I thought it was a sweater!

    1. Well I know I'm his mother so I'm biased but I'm inclined to agree, Keit. He's kind of got an intellectual hunk thing going. He is also a total sweetie.

You have no idea, or maybe you do, how difficult it is to pull off sassy when you are quite camera shy as I am. LOL. don't think I'm clever enough to turn that shawl into a sweater but I can make it a wrap skirt!

  6. I think this is one of my favourite outfits of yours ever! That striped maxi dress is gorgeous on you, it shows off your fantastic figure and the shawl adds a arty, hippy vibe to the look and did I mention your smile? Beautiful!
Your Mum and your handsome son are so very much like you, I bet she loved that amazing card. xxx

    1. It is really difficult to find a maxi that fits me properly but I was very excited when I found this one! Arty-hippie is, I suppose, the look that is most me. I like it. Now I have a name for my style or at least the style I am aiming for. Thanks!

  7. Love the photos of you with your mum and son - what a good-looking family you are!
The dress is wonderful, you look great, and I have to disagree about yellow not suiting you, I think it does!
Hope you had a happy Mother's Day. xxx

    1. I think the yellow works okay with the help of the navy blue. If it's the only colour next to my face it isn't the best, but I love that shawl so I insist on wearing it anyhow. I often use it as a scarf in winter too and I have the idea that I can turn it into a wrap skirt. I think I would just wrap myself in it every day if I could.

    1. Thank you Beate. My wardrobe is slowly improving and developing to suit my new life and the real me. My confidence in front of the camera is improving too, or at least my ability to fake it. My son and parents are the most lovely people and I love being with them. We go out together often actually and really enjoy each others' company.

  14. Awwwwwwww Shawna, what a beautiful collection of pics of such a special day! That's a nightgown? No way! But I most heartily approve I must say! My nightie collection hangs proudly among my frocks and there's no way anyone will ever convince me they're not pretty enough to wear out. Your son is gorgeous and so clearly takes after his lovely Mum. And what about your Mum? Beautiful!! xoxoxo

    1. LOL-well it's not really a nightgown but it feels like one. I agree though, some nightgowns are gorgeous and should be seen by the light of day and all the neighbours! xoxox

    1. My peachy dear, please do not apologise! I got a bit behind in my blog reading and holy hannah what a job to get caught up. Not that it wasn't fun but I felt a bit guilty taking all that time. I think you're right! There is a sort of Meryl Streep look to mum. She is giving me hard time for smiling with my mouth closed but I think my teeth are goofy. LOL

  16. Phew, I don't have to apologise for being late. Long dresses are perfect on you but I still want to see you in shorter dresses cause i'm sure you have great legs. I don't mean to push you ,I just give you options to explore in the summer! It's lovely you enjoy each other's company. I have to say that your son looks a lot like you and his grandmother who is such a lovely lady. I can't believe she's giving you a hard time. But then she is a mother ....and we all give hard times to our kids I hope not often!

    1. Oh I do have some shorter skirts too, but mostly I've been too cold to wear them. I'm wearing one today. I am not sure how I gave you the impression mum is giving me a hard time. She definitely isn't! She is so sweet and helpful and does a lot for me. I am very lucky to have her! My son is very sweet too, and so are the other members of my small family who aren't in the photos. We are a sweet family going about the world giving everyone cavities. :-)

    1. She likes them so I always do it. It's a little bit like how I did that when I was a little girl. Then one grows up and wants to step away from everything that seems childish. Perhaps I am in my second childhood now!
