Thank You, Friends. Here's a Cat in Gratitude

Thank you my dear blogging friends, for reading and leaving such well considered comments on my recent blog post about M.E.  In thanks I offer up a picture of one of my latest dress purchases (probably supposed to be a maxi but not on me of course.  I confess to buying an identical one in red and making myself leave the blue one behind.)  And more importantly, cute cat pics!

I was so hot I found even the one necklace I put on felt as though it added to the heat so I took it off.  Hmm..could this slouching I am doing be the cause of all my illness?  Or wait, no, perhaps I am really hot and tired!

Here is my darling naughty Sophie 'helping' me as I do paper and computer work. She is keeping the books in line, wrestling them into submission as they are known to get a bit out of control.

Sophie's Advice for Living Well:
When the playing is done and you are all tired out just rest your weary bones awhile.  Lean on those books you previously wrestled.

And then sleep.

  1. Sophie is clearly a knowledgeable kitty legend (and very beautiful) wrestling books is exhausting, they do like getting involved, mine follow me in the street sometimes and I talk to them, then people cross over the road to avoid me haha! your midi/maxi is gorgeous, the colour is bee-yoo-tiful on you, the red one needed to belong to you, it looks perfect for hot, hot weather x x x

  2. You look truly fantastic in this dress! This is such a wonderful shape for you, and the color, and the pattern make it so unique - very you, I think. I bet it's even hotter in red!

Always joy to see Sophie - she is precious! xxx

  3. The dress suits you perfectly, Shawna. I have given up worrying about that maxi/midi thing; if I like it, I wear it whatever the length!
Sophie is a beauty. Bright, too - she's read all those books, and now she's just closing her eyes to have a little think about what she's learned. Clever puss! xxx

  4. It's nice that there is more flexibiltiy these days with what skirt lengths are "in" but I can't always go by that anyhow. If the dress is too short I call it a tunic. It's really quite a surprise that I can get things in maxi length at all but sometimes I can.

Sophie is perfecting the method of content absorption, and tells me she has learned a lot from lying on books!

  5. As a fellow tall person, I know about the maxi midi thing! I tend to be too long in the waist, so it sits high. The sleeves are usually too short, and the bust baggy! Not the typical shape, whatever that is! This warm burgundy and gold is very tribal and looks great with your hair. I just want to bury my face in your cat's fur. My cat obliges sometimes, but although Manx cats have double coats, the winter coat extension still doesn't meet Sophie's magnificence! Give her a squdge from me :-) Go well, my friend. XO JJ

    1. I am usually longer in the torso than average too, so most dresses don't fit right, with the waist band about an inch too high and if it is empire waist it is too high on the bust instead of under my bust. The fact that the fit of this dress was pretty good is what lead to my buying two and really seriously considering a third. I think if there had been green or purple I would have bought a third.

Sophie is quite accepting of squdges and snuggles. I bury my face in her magnificent fur often. She also likes to lie on me when I am in bed and she goes right across my neck like a scarf. Or perhaps she is trying to kill me. She leaves lots of her fur lying around on the carpet so I'll collect it and mail it to you! ;-)

  6. Sophie is just gorgeous, I love seeing pictures of her.
That dress is great, I love wearing maxis of that length at festivals, they don't suck up the mud! xxx

    1. Sophie has no clue at all that she is gorgeous and she is most unladylike which I love about her. She stomps and clumps and bumps all over the place!

I love this skirt length for rainy days too. Having a love of bell bottoms that drag on the ground and long skirts that do the same is a bit inconvenient in a damp climate-lol.

    1. Thanks! I'm sure the store owner was glad I bought two as well. I LOVED that store and could have bought tons of things there. I jokingly asked them if they would consider opening a second shop in my town and apparently they are actually thinking of it! LOL

  8. awww - your cat is soooo lovely! would she like that i nibble her ear???
it´s high time to get my own kitty. but first we have to decide in which doors we sew a hole for the cat door.....
that dress is meant for you. totally. and you can always top it with a blue sweater
    ;-)
i never think about which skirt lengths we´r supposed to wear - i wear as long or short i like - for my body frame and for being practical :-P
heat is back here too - luckily the house stays cool inside - old houses are the best!

    1. I don't think she would mind an ear nibble at all. She pretty much happily accepts all forms of affection and attention. I would be a crazy cat lady except that the litter box smell would bother me so I stick with one cat.

Yes, I have every intention of wearing my dresses year round and popping a sweater on top as needed. One of my many navy blue ones, probably. :-)

There are a few skirt lengths I don't like on me so I would never wear them even if they were trendy but I like a variety of lengths so it's nice that even if I buy new there isn't only one length out there.

  10. That dress would be nice with riding boots. You know, I have lots of necklaces. Some chunky, some small, and they usually never see the light of day. I love the idea if them, but then I always end up taking it off. There is something lively about the exposed neckline..uninterrupted.

    1. I haven't got riding boots but you can bet they are on my wish list. I am tending more and more to be like you with the necklaces. Also with scarves and I adore scarves. But I have a short to average neck and a bit more bust than I need, so I find myself preferring an uncluttered neckline.

  11. Just read your post on M.E.--- I am so sorry you are dealing with all of this and all the extra (unnecessary) voices. But on a brighter note-- I really love this dress on you and I want to kidnap your cat… okay, maybe kidnapping isn't a positive things, so lets just say she is beautiful!

    1. Thanks, Alexis. Great dresses are an appropriate antidote to chronic illness inspired depression. I have learned that self care is important and taking the time to feel good about myself even if I am home all day makes a difference.

Sophie is a beauty and she can be very sweet and very cuddly but she can be a demon too in the say that many cats can.
